Bilic confirms Carrol a doubt for West Brom clash

Cape Town - West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has revealed that striker Andy Carroll may miss Saturday's Premier League clash with West Brom.

The Hammers forward has a minor problem with his groin, which is not believed to be serious, but Bilic remains cautious due to the Englishman's history with injuries.

The former Croatia boss said: "A few players have not trained like (Aaron) Cresswell, Carroll and (Cheikhou) Kouyate but we will wait and see on Friday.

"It is not anything major. Andy felt something similar to what he had at Middlesbrough and hopefully he will be okay for Saturday. This is the only week he didn't train with us basically since he came back from injury that ruled him out for a long time.

"He trained 80-90% of the sessions of the time he has trained with us and for me that is the key. Of course you have to find a balance for every player, especially for him who has had a history of injuries but the players have to train to maintain fitness and to prevent injuries."

Carroll scored West Ham's opening goal in the 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday before being substituted in the 56th minute.

The Hammers who sit in 9th position in the league standings will be aiming to close the five point gap to the Baggies who are one place ahead of them in 8th position when the two sides clash at the London Stadium on Saturday.

Kick off is at 17:00.
