Besic: I need to improve

Cape Town - Midfielder Muhamed Besic has admitted his level of performance for Everton has not been good enough over the past few weeks.

The cultured defensive midfielder has only appeared eight times in the English Premier League this season and was substituted at half-time during their 2-0 loss to Arsenal at Goodison Park last month.

"It was the worst game I have played in the last five years," the Bosnia international told the Liverpool Echo.

"Normally, I am always one of the best on the pitch and I can't remember when I wasn't.

Besic claims it could be the fact that he hasn't consistently been in the starting eleven, but admits Martinez had every right to take him off.

The 23-year-old will be hoping that he can at least make the match squad on Saturday when Everton travel to Watford.

Kick-off is at 16:00.
