Cape Town - Saido
Berahino could be closing in on his West Brom return after Tony Pulis
revealed the striker is looking " brighter and sharper".
The Baggies boss sent the 23-year-old to France recently for a four-day fitness programme after complaining of his low level of fitness.
And after working hard to get up to speed, Pulis has revealed that Berahino, who has 11 England under 21 caps, will be back in his plans soon.
At a press conference on Thursday, he said: "I had a good chat with Saido yesterday. He looks brighter and sharper. Fitness-wise, he’s getting there.
"The next step is getting him games and hopefully that will happen in the next few weeks."
Berahino's West Brom future has been a constant source of speculation, with the striker tipped to exit the club during the last couple of transfer windows, although he remains a Baggies player for the foreseeable future.
He added: "A lot of people have spoken to him. He’s got bad advice and he needs to unravel things and think on his own two feet. The demands and stresses are there for all to see. He’s been in demand ever since I’ve been here.
"It’s been a saga that’s continued to run. The most important thing is football. He’s trained well this week, but he needs now to be involved in games.
"Mentally he’s a lot clearer in his mind."
West Brom welcome Sean Dyche's Burnley side to The Hawthorns Stadium on Monday evening in a crucial encounter with one point seperating the two sides as both teams look to secure their English Premiership survival at the earliest opportunity.
Kickoff is at 2200.
