Benteke rejects China move to stay at Palace

London - Christian Benteke will remain at Crystal Palace in the January transfer window, despite lucrative interest from the Chinese Super League.

Benteke moved to Palace in a club record £32 million move during the summer and he has netted eight times for the Premier League strugglers.

However, there is interest in the Belgian international from the CSL, with a possibility of doubling his current £100 000 a week contract.

New Palace boss Sam Allardyce insists Benteke wants to stay at Selhurst Park though and ensure the Eagles remain in the Premier League.

"I have not spoken to the chairman and unless he knows any different from me, Christian Benteke is not for sale," said Allardyce.

"At the moment he is a Crystal Palace player and available for selection this weekend

"I am planning for him to be here at the end of this window.

"He has scored eight goals already this season, so he is a major part to play in the goal-scoring area for us to stay in the Premier League and I expect him to be here when the window shuts."

Palace next travel to the London Stadium to face London rivals West Ham United on Saturday with Allardyce looking at the Belgian striker to fire his side out of the relegation zone.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
