Benitez: Maybe Toon not ready for Premier League

Cape Town - Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez says his side must adapt quickly if they are to survive in the Premier League.

The Magpies were beaten 1-0 by Huddersfield Town on Sunday, making it two defeats out of two since their return to the Premier League.

"I'm obviously disappointed," Benitez said.

"We have some little problems in defence, with not too many players, and we have to manage.

"They did well for a while, and we conceded because we gave them too much time on the ball. After that we were quite positive, but it's a learning process for us."

Meanwhile, defender and club captain Jamaal Lascelles said that they "can’t be too down" and must "stick together, regroup, and get ready to go again".

"I do think we could have done a bit more," Lascelles said. "We could have been more ruthless, because they were in their own half.

"We had a lot of good chances to equalise and we could even have gone on to win it. But, in the Premier League, it’s not about how many chances you have, it’s about turning those chances into goals."
