Bartley: Cup run could boost Swansea

Cape Town - Swansea City centre-back Kyle Bartley believes a positive result in the FA Cup could help the team find some confidence and lead to better Premier League performances.

The Swans are rooted to the bottom of the league table after winning only one of their last seven games, but Bartley reckons a win against Wolverhampton in their FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday could kick-start their revival.

“Obviously, our focus is mainly on the Premier League,” he told Jack Magazine, according to the club's official website.

“But, as you’ve seen in the past, a good cup run can lift everyone’s spirits around the club and the city, and give you that bit of confidence that might be lacking.

“I think it’s important that we go out to try to win the game and, hopefully, we can take that momentum going forward in the Premier League.

“It’s also a good opportunity for players to get some minutes into their legs, because everyone is going to be needed in the league until the end of the season.”

Swansea played out a goalless draw against Wolves in their clash at Molineux on January 6, before a 1-1 draw with Newcastle in the league.
