Cape Town - Everton
defender Leighton Baines has spoken highly of the team chemistry at the
club and the players' willingness to work hard for each other on the
pitch.
The Toffees have enjoyed a terrific run of form, winning seven of their last 10 Premier League games, which sees them joint-top on the form table.
During that time, Ronaldo Koeman's side have scored 26 goals and conceded only seven, but Baines believes it's the teamwork that has proven the most influential.
“By keeping a clean sheet, you obviously give yourself a chance of winning a game and if you can get a handful of goals, brilliant. It’s not often you get both at the same time so we are obviously doing something right," he told the club's official website.
“It’s something we’ve been much-improved on as a team. The record has been pretty good and we’ve kept a few clean sheets, so that always gives you a good chance and in addition to that, we’ve been finding the right formula to score some goals."
“Just in the team in general,” he added. “More organisation, more structure, more responsibility. It’s about doing your job and the right thing for the team.
“It’s a tough league to play in and you are not always going to get it right but if you have got everyone singing from the same hymn sheet and willing to put in the hard yards then it at least gives you a chance.”
Koeman's side are in seventh position, just six points behind Liverpool, having lost only once in 12 league matches since the two sides last met.
Everton have not beaten Liverpool home or away since October 2010, enduring a run of 13 derbies in all competitions without victory.
Kick off is at 13:30.
