Azpilicueta set to snub Barcelona

Cape Town - Cesar Azpilicueta feels flattered by links to Barcelona, but insists he has no intention of leaving newly-crowned Premier League champions Chelsea.

The 27-year-old defender was an ever present for the Blues this past season as they reclaimed the league title from Leicester with two games to spare.

Azpilicueta started all 38 matches in the top flight and his sterling performances for Antonio Conte's side in a three-man defence has reportedly attracted the attention of Barca.

The Catalan giants are expected to add a right-back to their squad during the off-season, and the Spain international is thought to be an option if they fail to land Hector Bellerin from Arsenal.

But Azpilicueta is enjoying his stay in the English capital and sees no reason to return to his homeland for the time being, having started his career at Osasuna.

"It's flattering that a club like Barcelona can be interested in you," he told Marca. "Last year, after a bad season on a collective level, we did not have those types of rumours.

"However, this season we have crowned champions and this type of information indicates that we have done well.

"Interest from teams of this level is very positive but I am very happy here. I feel very valued by the club and I do not think of anything else."
