Athletic star rules out Liverpool switch

Cape Town - Athletic Bilbao starlet Inaki Williams says he wants to remain at San Mames 'for many years' to come despite reported interest from the Premier League.

The 22-year-old striker has attracted the interest of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool following his impressive displays in La Liga last season, which earned him a call-up to the senior Spanish side.

He narrowly missed out on being part of the squad that played at Euro 2016, and continues to perform well for Bilbao this season.

Speaking to AS, Williams said: "I'm happy at Athletic, it's where I want to be.

"I'm very grateful to the fans, to the club and to my teammates. I want to continue here for many years.

"I want to be Athletic's future No. 9, the player who raises the roof at San Mames every week and scores lot of goals.

"I've always considered myself a forward, I feel comfortable playing in that position and being close to the goal."

Williams signed an extension to his contract at the club in January that will keep him at Bilbao until 2021.
