Cape Town - The signing of Nigerian teenager Kelechi Nwakali by English Premier League outfit Arsenal has been confirmed by the player himself.
Nwakali represented Nigeria at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile last year, where he was named the tournament's best player.
The deal is thought to be worth around £3m as Arsenal beat a host of rivals for the teenager midfielder's signature.
Speaking to allnigeriafootball.com, Nwakali confirmed: "I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal.
"So many teams were interested in me but it has been my dream at a tender age to play for Arsenal."
The move from Nigeria's Diamond Football Academy will be finalised when Nwakali turns 18 in June. He is expected to be joined at Arsenal by Nigerian teammate Samuel Chukwueze.
