Sydney - Arsenal will play two pre-season matches against A-League sides Sydney FC and Western Sydney in July 2017, the English Premier League team's first visit to Australia's largest city in 40 years.
New South Wales state government officials said Wednesday the matches will be played at the 83 500-seat Olympic Stadium in Western Sydney on dates to be determined.
In 1977, Arsenal played two matches in Sydney and one in Adelaide, winning one of three games.
Sydney hosted friendlies against Tottenham and Chelsea in May and June, while Manchester City, Real Madrid and AS Roma played an exhibition series in Melbourne.
Liverpool also played matches in Adelaide and Brisbane this year.
