Alderweireld insists he is happy at Tottenham

Cape Town - Toby Alderweireld insists he is settled at Tottenham, despite having yet to agree terms on a new contract with the Premier League title contenders.

The Belgium international was thought to be unhappy about the matter, with his lawyer recently urging Spurs to show their commitment to a thoroughly deserving servant of the club.

But Mauricio Pochettino responded to rumours about his player's future by revealing that all was well, the manager having held a positive meeting with Alderweireld, who has admitted as much to Sky Sports News.

"I had a good conversation with the manager," the 28-year-old defender said. "I told him I'm focused on football, to keep my game up and help the team.

"That's all I can do. You can see I'm happy there, and I try to help the team, and that's the way I always play football."

Asked if he'd been offered a new deal yet, Alderweireld replied: "No, like I said, I am focused on football. The rest, I don't know, we will see about that."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
