Ailing Palace hit by Wickham blow

London - Struggling English Premier League side Crystal Palace suffered another setback on Tuesday with the club announcing striker Connor Wickham will be sidelined for months after damaging knee ligaments.

The 23-year-old former England Under-21 international will undergo surgery after injuring his right knee during the dramatic 5-4 defeat to fellow relegation candidates Swansea on Saturday.

"Connor Wickham's injury sustained at the match against Swansea City on Saturday has seen him undergo an MRI scan and it is confirmed he received an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury to his right knee," read a statement from Crystal Palace.

"He will now undergo surgery and his return to action will be confirmed once rehabilitation starts following surgery.

"Everyone at the club wishes Connor a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back in action as soon as possible."

Swansea also generously sent their best wishes to Wickham.

"Wishing you a speedy recovery, @ConnorWickham10!" tweeted the Welsh club.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
