Agent dismisses Szczesny to Juve link

Cape Town - Wojciech Szczesny's agent insists the goalkeeper has not decided to join Juventus as he first wants to hear what Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning.

The Poland international impressed for Roma in his second season on loan at the Serie A club, keeping 14 clean sheets as they finished four points behind reigning champions Juve in second place.

Reports in Italy claimed that the Bianconeri have targeted Szczesny as a long-term replacement for Italian icon Gianluigi Buffon, with the former's contract at the Emirates Stadium set to enter its final year.

But the 27-year-old's representative, David Manasseh, revealed that his client intends to hold talks with Wenger - who this week signed a new deal to keep him at the Gunners helm until 2019 - before making a decision on his future.

"There is still no agreement with Juventus," Manasseh told Przeglad Sportowy.

"Szczesny has yet to talk with Wenger, who has been confirmed as Arsenal coach for the next two years."

The Pole arrived at the north London club in 2006 and spent three years in their academy before making his first-team debut in the League Cup. After a loan spell at Brentford, he became a regular for Wenger's side in 2011 and was the joint-winner of the Golden Glove two seasons later, sharing the award with current first-choice Gunners keeper Petr Cech.
