Andreas Weimann spoke to the club's website after the game: "It was brilliant."

"Playing Stoke at the Britannia Stadium is a really tough place to come to. They finished ninth in the previous season so we knew it was going to be a hard game.

"Getting the win - and the clean sheet - was massive for us. We worked really hard. We knew we'd have to. Everyone gave it 100%."

"You know when you come to Stoke that you're going to be in for a battle. But we were up for it.

"We got the three points and the clean sheet and that's what matters.

"Yes, we could have scored two or three in the game - but the fact is we didn't. The key fact is that we got one goal, a clean sheet and three points."

Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic wants his side to bounce back after the club's less than ideal start to the season.

“It’s certainly not the start we wanted,” the player told the club's official website.

“It’s not ideal because nobody likes to lose the first game but these things happen and you just have to move on from it and come back stronger.

“We just couldn’t get through them at any point which is disappointing. To be fair to them they came here with a good game plan and really frustrated us.

“Every week brings with it a new challenge and we now have to look forward to the Hull game next weekend.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
