West Brom down Hull

Birmingham - Saido Berahino gave Tony Pulis a winning Premier League start at West Bromwich Albion by scoring in a 1-0 victory over Hull on Saturday.

Berahino met an indirect free kick from Victor Anichebe to smash home the winner in the 77th minute for his ninth league goal of the season.

West Brom was awarded the free kick after Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor picked up a back pass from Ahmed Elmohamady.

Hull struggled to create chances after strikers Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic both had to be substituted with injuries.

Pulis was brought in to replace the fired Alan Irvine with the task to keep West Brom in the topflight, and the club moved to 14th place with the victory, two points outside the relegation zone.
