We deserved a point - Jagielka

Cape Town - Everton captain Phil Jagielka scored a sensational 92nd-minute equaliser to earn his side a 1-1 draw against derby rivals Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.

Liverpool v Everton

Steven Gerrard had put Liverpool ahead with a second-half free-kick, but he was upstaged in injury time when his former England colleague Jagielka drove an exquisite half-volley into the top-right corner from 25 yards.

Jagielka, talking to evertontv, was delighted with the effort his side put in.

"We do a lot of shooting in training and I can pull one out now and again but to pull one out in the last minute in front of the Kop and get us a point makes it extra special." said Jagielka.

"I thought the boys dug in and deserved a point."

Jagielka admitted he would've taken a goal in any fashion after his sensational strike earned his side a share of the points.

"I would have taken a two yard tap in and celebrated it just as much," he said.

"We were devastated with the performance here last year but the resilience was there this year. Stonesy, Mo (Besic) and Tyias all put in good performances."
