United handed good Rooney news

Cape Town - Manchester United have received a massive injury boost with the news that Wayne Rooney is in line for a return when his side meets Southampton.

The Telegraph report that Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney will be fit to take his place in the side when Louis van Gaal takes his team to Southampton on Monday.

Wayne Rooney's knee injury is not as bad as first feared and the forward will be available for the match against third-placed Southampton.

Manchester United managed to beat Stoke City on Tuesday without their talisman but with their four match winning streak on the line, Rooney is set to be included in the match-day squad against the Saints.

Fourth-placed Manchester United travel to St. Mary's Stadium on Monday, December 8 to face Southampton.
