Cape Town - Manchester United are interested in triggering Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin's £28 million release clause.
The Daily Mail report that Diego Godin is on Louis van Gaal's January transfer list.
Godin is a regular starter for Diego Simeone's side and was a central figure in Atleti's La Liga triumph last season.
Manchester United are looking into several targets but Godin's experience at the top level means that he could be the subject of January bid from the Red Devils.
Godin would cost United a maximum of £28 million, which is reportedly the value of Godin's release clause.
The Uruguayan international would go a long way to easing van Gaal's defensive crisis.
