Toure took wife's diet pill

London - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Kolo Toure blames his positive drug test on a diet supplement belonging to the player's wife.

The Manchester City defender was suspended Thursday after testing positive for an unidentified banned substance.

Wenger says he has spoken to the former Arsenal center back and does not believe Toure took a performance-enhancing drug.

Wenger says Toure "wants to control his weight a little bit because that's where he has some problems. He took the product of his wife."

The French coach says the Ivory Coast player is "a boy who has a clean life, very honest living, always at home, a family man" and was simply "not cautious enough."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
