Toure plays down Tevez row

Johannesburg - Manchester City's Kolo Toure insists there are no hard feelings between Roberto Mancini and Carlos Tevez following their reported half-time row.

The pair clashed over tactics following a disappointing opening 45 minutes in Sunday's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

The bust-up provided the spark needed to jolt City into action and Toure insists Mancini said the right things at the right time to ensure his team would finish victorious.

City claimed the points courtesy of second half substitute Adam Johnson's sweet left-footed strike into the far corner of the net just minutes after his introduction.

"The right things were said at half-time," said Toure. "The manager had the right words and we worked harder in the second-half and we are really happy that we got the three points.

"We are second in the league and that should give everyone confidence to come back and try to make sure our standards do not slip and that we find the consistency we need to sustain a challenge.

"If we work hard then we can maintain that challenge. The great thing for us is that we are still a new team and there is still a lot of improvement to come this season - I'm sure of that. So to be second at this stage is a really good thing."

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
