Torres 'staying at Liverpool'

Liverpool - Fernando Torres says he intends to stay at Liverpool after recent reports suggested the Spain striker could leave.

Torres says on his website "my place is here at Liverpool, and in England" after Spanish reports hinted he could leave unless Liverpool made important signings this summer.

Torres, who has three years left on his contract, acknowledged "we need some new signings" but they should be "quality players."

Liverpool are sixth - four points below Tottenham - in the English Premiership, but Torres believes Liverpool can finish fourth to clinch the final Champions League qualifying spot.

Torres, who turned 26 last week, says his plans for next season include "challenging for the Premier League title, and the Champions League or Europa League."
