London - Liverpool are heading in the right direction under new coach Kenny Dalglish according to striker Fernando Torres.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw with city rivals Everton on Sunday, the back-to-form Spaniard said that the dismal start to the season uner Roy Hodgson was quickly being forgotten.

"We are disappointed with the result but we are improving and moving in the right direction," said the 26-year-old.

"The performance of the team was very good again and we are playing better.

"The most important thing is getting results but if we keep playing like that they will come soon.

"Our target is just winning games. We will see what happens in the next game because we need to start getting three points in every game.

"We will see what happens at the end of the season but we have to start winning because it's a long time since our last one (against Bolton on New Year's Day)."

Torres felt Liverpool could have nicked the derby game with a bit more luck as after he hit the post in the first half the home side dominated, with Raul Meireles scored his first goal since joining in the summer.

Half-time saw their fortunes turn around as Everton scored twice within six minutes of the restart but Dirk Kuyt's penalty ensured Dalglish finally got a point on the board.

"If we had taken the chances we had, particularly in the first half, we would have been winning by two or three at half-time - but that's football," Torres told LFCTV.

"In the second half they started well and scored two goals.

"After that we had a good reaction and got level at 2-2.

"We had chances at the end but you don't always get the reward you deserve when you play well. We are disappointed by that."
