Cape Town - Over £830 million was spent during the summer transfer window in England but who spent the most on bringing in new players?

Here are the FIVE biggest spenders during the transfer window:

1. Manchester United - £154.5 million

Ángel di María (Real Madrid, £59.7m), Luke Shaw (Southampton, £30m), Ander Herrera (Athletic Bilbao, £28.8m), Marcos Rojo (Sporting Lisbon, £16m), Vanja Milinkovic (FK Vojvodina, Undisclosed), Daley Blind (Ajax,  £14m) Radamel Falcao (Monaco, season loan - £6m).

2. Liverpool - £116.8 million 

Mario Balotelli (AC Milan, £16m), Alberto Moreno (Sevilla, £12m), Adam Lallana (Southampton, £25m), Dejan Lovren (Southampton, £20m), Lazar Markovic (Benfica, £20m), Divock Origi (Lille, £10m), Emre Can (Bayer Leverkusen, £9.75m), Rickie Lambert (Southampton, £4m), Lawrence Vigouroux, Kevin Stewart (Both Tottenham Hotspur), Javier Manquillo (Atlético Madrid, Loan).

3. Chelsea - £87.7 million

Diego Costa (Atlético Madrid, £32m), Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona, £27m), Filipe Luis (Atlético Madrid, £15.8m), Mario Pasalic (Hajduk Split, £2.4m), Didier Drogba (Galatasaray), Loic Remy (QPR, £10.5m).

4. Arsenal - £78.2m

Alexis Sánchez (Barcelona, £30m), Calum Chambers (Southampton, £16m), Mathieu Debuchy (Newcastle United, £12m), David Ospina (Nice, £3m), Elias Chatzitheodoridis (Mas Kallitheakos, Undisclosed), Hugo Keto (HJK Helsinki, Undisclosed), Ben Sheaf (West Ham United, Undisclosed), Danny Welbeck (Manchester United, £16m).

5. Southampton - £59.4m

Shane Long (Hull City, £12m), Dusan Tadic (FC Twente, £10.9m), Fraser Forster (Celtic, £10m), Graziano Pelle (Feyenoord, £9m), Florin Gardos (Steaua Bucharest, £6m), Saphir Taider (Inter Milan, Swap), Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea, Loan), Sadio Mane (Salzburg, £11.5m), Toby Alderweid (Atletico Madrid, loan).
