Terry: Coping with abuse

London - Chelsea captain John Terry said he was immune to abuse about his private life and family during matches, insisting in court that he didn't respond to taunting from an opponent with a racial slur.

The veteran defender is on trial for allegedly hurling the insult at Anton Ferdinand in October after the Queens Park Rangers player goaded him over an alleged affair with an England team-mate's ex-girlfriend.

On the third day of his trial, Terry said he has taken "abuse on the chin" since the allegations emerged in 2010 and led to him being stripped of the England captaincy for the first time.

Terry also recounted how he finds it "upsetting" Liverpool fans bellow vulgar chants about his mother during matches.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
