Cape Town - Former West Ham United striker, Teddy Sheringham, will be returning to Upton Park as part of the coaching staff under manager Sam Allardyce.
The former Hammer, who spent three years at the club from 2004-2007, will join the team on a part-time basis as attacking coach and has admitted he is relishing the opportunity to work with the players.
"I'm very excited. Sam phoned me a week or so ago and asked me if I fancied it. It was far too good to resist really," Sheringham told Sky Sports.
"Being a West Ham boy and coming from the area, it fits nicely in all that I'm about, what with working alongside Sam and knowing a few of the players as well."
Sam Allardyce will hope the introduction of his new attacking coach will help inspire a few more goals next season. The Hammers managed just 40 goals in 38 league games, with midfielder Kevin Nolan top scoring with just seven goals.
