Swansea stun Villa

Birmingham - Swansea scored their first away victory of the season as Aston Villa came down to earth following their New Year's Eve upset at Chelsea.

Goals from Nathan Dyer and Villa old boy Wayne Routledge secured a deserved 2-0 win for the Swans, who climbed to 11th place after another impressive performance.

But it was yet another disappointing loss in front of their home fans for Villa, who have won just three games at Villa Park this term.

Swansea were set on the way to victory in the fourth minute when a blunder by Stephen Warnock - gifting possession to the visitors -- saw Dyer pounce on the loose ball and fire into the bottom corner of the net.

Routledge made it 2-0 shortly after the restart, lashing home the rebound after Danny Graham's shot had cannoned back off the woodwork.

Charles N'Zogbia nearly pulled one back for Villa in the closing stages but his shot crashed off the woodwork and Villa boss Alex McLeish was roundly booed at the full-time whistle.
