Swans snap up winger Montero

London - Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero has signed for Swansea City from Mexican side Morelia on a four-year contract, the Premier League club announced on Thursday.

The 24-year-old former Villarreal player, who can play on either flank and started all three of Ecuador's group games at the World Cup, has signed for an undisclosed fee.

Montero is Swansea's sixth close-season signing and follows players including former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and ex-Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis in moving to the Liberty Stadium.

"Swansea City have completed their sixth summer signing with the arrival of Ecuador winger Jefferson Montero," read a statement on the Swansea website.

"After passing his medical, Montero was straight onto the training pitch today (Thursday) as he linked up with his new team-mates."

Meanwhile, Swansea have announced that Spanish attacking midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has left the club to join Rayo Vallecano for an undisclosed fee after only one year in south Wales.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
