Bolton - Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari scored in injury time to lead Sunderland to a 2-1 victory at Bolton in the Premier League on Saturday, giving the team only its second win in 12 matches.
Muntari latched on to a through ball from Stephane Sessegnon to find the net with a shot that defender Zat Knight touched before the ball crossed the line, ending Bolton's run of five straight home victories.
After the match, Sunderland manager Steve Bruce said Muntari's future at the club will be determined at the end of the season when his loan deal from Inter Milan expires.
"There's a deal in place for Sulley but nothing has been finalised as yet," Bruce said. "The problem with Sulley is fitness, if I am honest. He did not play for six months this season.
"He won the Champions League with Inter but then found himself out of the side. He has just got to the level of fitness you need to play in the Premier League."
Bolo Zenden put Sunderland ahead in first-half stoppage time with his first goal of the season after beating the offside trap.
Bolton striker Ivan Klasnic equalized in the 87th, heading into the far corner from Rodrigo's superb ball to the back post.
Sunderland rose three places to 11th, while Bolton stayed in eighth spot.
