The 24-year-old Suarez hardly missed a game in the past two years for Ajax Amsterdam and now Liverpool, having infamously helped Uruguay to the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup before forming an integral part of the successful Uruguayan team which lifted the Copa America title in July, sandwiched between three league seasons.
Despite this, the tricky forward turned down the opportunity gain a breather and sit out Uruguay’s international friendly against Ukraine, and travelled to Kharkiv and played the entire 90 minutes.
Even when Dalglish tried to take matters into his own hands, by placing Suarez on Liverpool’s substitute’s bench in their trip to Arsenal, the Uruguayan was not impressed and clearly showed it a week later after the Scotsman substituted him in Liverpool’s 3-1 win against Bolton at Anfield.
“I want to play in all the games I can for Liverpool,” he told British newspaper, the Daily Mirror.
“I don't want any rest at all. Despite only having that week's training before playing again, I'm only 24 so I felt good. I was glad to get back to training at Melwood as I had been missing that whole atmosphere around the training ground and wanted to get back to playing at Anfield.”
