Striker angry at Wenger

Cape Town - Frustrated with a lack of first team opportunities, Joel Campbell is growing increasingly frustrated with life at the Emirates.

The Daily Star report that Arsene Wenger refused to leave the Costa Rica star leave on deadline day.

Benfica came in for Campbell on deadline day but Arsenal rejected their approach.

"Benfica fought until the last minute to sign Campbell but the move didn't happen because, in the last hour, Arsenal decided to keep him." said the striker's agent.

"Wenger says he did not want to sell him. But if he is not in his plans, then why not allow him to leave?" asked the agent.

The 22-year-old forward, who signed for Arsenal in 2011, is currently behind Oliver Giroud, new recruit Danny Welbeck and Yaya Sanogo in the pecking order at the Emirates.

Campbell, the star of Costa Rica's surprising World Cup run, is yet to start a game for the Gunners.
