Cape Town - New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to add Argentinian centre back Mateo Musacchio to his 2014/15 English Premiership squad.

The Times are reporting that Spurs could move for Villareal's highly rated defender Mateo Musacchio as the club attempt to bolster their defensive resources.

Reports suggest that Spurs will have to spend £17 million to secure the services of the 23-year-old defender.

A deal for Mussachio will almost certainly end the Spurs' career of either Vlad Chiriches or former captain Michael Dawson.

Mussachio has just two international caps to his name but has become a central figure in Villareal's lineup in La Liga.
