Spurs close in on Saints duo

Cape Town - As Calum Chambers becomes the newest player to depart Southampton, Saints fans will be wondering if there will be any players left at the club come the start of next season.

Chambers joined Arsenal on Monday for a fee thought to be about £16m, while less than 24 hours prior to that centre-back Lovren moved to Liverpool in a £20m deal. As if the departure of these two, together with Shaw, Lambert and Lallana weren't already enough, reports are now suggesting that Tottenham are closing in on midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and striker Jay Rodriguez.

According to BBC Sport, talks are ongoing between the clubs as the France international and England striker, both aged 24, look set to join the Saints exodus.

Tottenham are looking to add to the signings of full-back Ben Davies and goalkeeper Michel Vorm from Swansea.

Southampton, in an effort to try and salvage their team, have signed two players, bringing in Dusan Tadic from FC Twente and Graziano Pelle from Feyenoord, but is expected to sell disruptive club-record signing Dani Osvaldo.
