Sakho next on Rodgers' list

Cape Town - Diafra Sakho's fine form has been noticed by Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who is reportedly eyeing a move for the Senegal star.

Metro reports that Liverpool want Diafra Sakho to replace misfiring trouble-maker Mario Balotelli.

Following Jackson Martinez' snub (read that story here), Brendan Rodgers is looking closer to home for a striker to guide Liverpool back to the top of the English Premiership.

Daniel Sturridge remaines sidelined and Belgium's young star Divock Origi only joining the club at the end of the season from Lille, Liverpool are desperate to find goals and are willing to enter the January market to find someone if Balotelli's form does not improve by January 1.

Liverpool are wary of overspending on January targets with the likes of Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Mario Balotelli all struggling to show the form that led to their signings in the summer.

The 24-year-old forward has scored eight times in ten matches for the Hammers and is being touted as a cheaper alternative to other targets.
