Cape Town - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers feels Simon Mignolet
has 'really grown as a goalkeeper' following an outstanding display
during Saturday's 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
The Belgian endured a torrid start to the season and was subsequently dropped by Rodgers over the Christmas period, but he has managed to work himself back into the reckoning ahead of the injured Brad Jones.
Mignolet has since been inspired by his short spell as second choice and produced a fine performance at Villa Park this weekend to earn the praise of his manager, reports Football411.
"In the second half they made a good start as you'd expect from a home side, but we were resilient and strong today, and defended really well," Rodgers said.
"I thought the goalkeeper - what he had to do - was outstanding. Simon Mignolet really grew for me today as a goalkeeper.
"He was very dominant against some players who are really good in the air, came and took his crosses well, and made two very important saves for us when he was called upon."
