Rio's message for David De Gea

Cape Town - At the centre of the biggest transfer story of the British summer,  Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has now received a message from former colleague Rio Ferdinand on the topic.

Ferdinand, who left Manchester United at the end of the 2013/14 season after his contract was not renewed, sent De Gea his message via Instagram.

Real Madrid are desperate to bring the Spanish goalkeeper to the club this summer despite Manchester United's insisting on a record fee for the player who has just one year left on his current deal.

Ferdinand does not want to see De Gea return to Spain and sent him this message on Wednesday:

Got a message for you @d_degeaofficial ... Please don't go!!! ?? #mufc
