Cape Town - Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool for many months now, says the Merseyside club saw an offer for his services refused by Bayern Munich prior to the World Cup.
According to Sky Sports, Xherdan Shaqiri was told in no uncertain terms that the club would not sell him.
"Liverpool made a bid for me before the World Cup but Bayern put their foot down and told me, ‘We’re not going to sell you’," the play-maker said.
Shaqiri's contract with Bayern runs until 2016, but the 22-year-old admits he will weigh up his options come the winter break at the end of the year.
For now, Shaqiri’s focus is locked on a European Qualifier with England, with Roy Hodgson set to bring a new-look side to the St Jakob Stadium on Monday, September 8.
