Cape Town - Dutch striker Robin Van Persie should be fit to take his place in the Manchester United line-up against Swansea City on Saturday.

According to manutd.com, manager Louis van Gaal believes the Dutch striker will be ready to play on Saturday.

"Yes, he [van Persie] shall be fit," van Gaal told reporters after Van Persie's absence during the 3-1 FA Cup win over Preston North End.

Van Persie is van Gaal's leading scorer this season and his absence was felt during the clash against Preston as Radamel Falcao struggled to make an impact before being substituted with his side still trailing their unfancied hosts 1-0 after 60 minutes.

Van Persie scored two against goals when the sides last met at the the Liberty Stadium but it was Swansea City who came out on top in the opening fixture of the 2014/15 season at Old Trafford.

Phil Jones and Michael Carrick are the only fitness concerns for the Red Devils, who are aiming to secure a top four league finish in order to return to the Champions League next season.

The match kicks off at 17:00.
