Johannesburg - Reports suggest that SA midfielder Steven Pienaar will not be renewing his Everton contract and could leave as early as January.
According to Dutch publication Elf Voetbal, negotiations between the 28-year-old and the club have come to an end and Pienaar could leave the Toffees as early as January with his current deal expiring at the end of the season.
Elf Voetbal suggests that Inter Milan, Liverpool and Tottenham are the most likely destinations for the former Ajax player. Everton reportedly rejected a summer bid from Tottenham.
Pienaar is free to talk to foreign clubs from the start of January. He joined Everton for £2 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2007, and has scored thirteen Premier League goals for David Moyes’ side since his arrival.
Given that he is in the final year of his contract, Pienaar could be snapped up by the likes of Tottenham or Liverpool for a bargain price.
