Pienaar tweet: off to Spurs

London - South Africa midfielder Steven Pienaar has announced on Twitter that he will be joining Tottenham Hotspur from Premier League rival Everton.

Pienaar, who was also in talks with Chelsea after refusing to sign a new contract at Everton, posted on Twitter: "To end speculation I am going to Spurs."

Everton said on Monday that the club had agreed to a fee with Tottenham for the winger, who moved to Goodison Park on loan in 2007 before signing a permanent deal the following year.

Pienaar added on Twitter on Tuesday: "I've had brilliant years at Everton and it will always be a special place in my heart."

Some British media say Spurs has offered 2.5 million pounds ($4 million) for the 28-year-old Pienaar, who was out of contract after this season.
