Pienaar no closer to new deal

2010-05-24 10:10

Johannesburg - Everton star Steven Pienaar has thrown his future at Goodison Park into further doubt by revealing he is still not close to agreeing a contract extension.

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and the Toffees' Merseyside neighbours Liverpool have been linked with the South Africa international as he has just one year remaining on his current deal.

Pienaar has not ruled out the possibility of staying at Everton, who expect to secure Jack Rodwell on a new four-year contract on Monday, but he will not be prepared to accept a cut-price offer.

"I'd say the spirit of the discussions was very good, but we have differing valuations, so my future isn't clear," said the 28-year-old in the Daily Mail.

"Everton may keep me for the last year of my deal. If they decide to sell, and the move is correct for my career, then I'll consider it.

"Hopefully this hasn't been my last season, but who knows?"

Pienaar should think this thing straight, and not being caught up with the fact that so many teams are after him. He should make a clear and concise decision, upon this matter. Really i would like to see him play for Liverpool, but it's his decision to take. Go sticker go...

Steven Pienaar should stay at Everton where he is the main playmaker. If he moves to a team like Liverpool or Man United, he will just be 1 of 25 stars in the squad. He would therefore get very little game time. Remember, he is not a goal scorer, but a provider, so i dont see him at any of the above mentioned clubs. Basically this issue with Everton is all about money. as he said, they are disagreeing with his value which means that they disagree on his wages. They should sign Steven for the next 5 years until he is 33 & pay him what he is worth. If he is looking for money and little playing time, then he should think Man City.

I think he should go to ManUTD. That would be the greatest choice of a team. He's a fan of UTD since childhood.

Steve..hang in there at the toffees boet. They love you there, and they are the one team that really seem to gel as a group. They have a great history. If Moyes stays, you should stay - but make sure you get what you deserve (wiothout being greedy). Rewards don't only come in financial terms. With Everton, you'll always have goals to achieve - like getting to play European Football, and hopefully winning the league again - with Man U, there's nothing left to achieve - it's all about money, and individuals. Also as DC said, at least you'll get game time, doing what you love. TOFFEES FOREVER!

This is really up to Steve to decide His future If I could make a suggestion I will beg him to go to LPool

I think he should go to Man Utd - unlike Benni who wasted his chances. Being a hard worker as he is he can feature in many matches. Steven, the sky is the limit - never underestimate what you can produce on the field. Playing for Man Utd will give you more exposure to the highest leagues. Growing up is partly about accepting change and move on to the next level.

Pienaar should go for MAN U because playing for the team that you support is the every persons dream.

  • Guru - 2010-06-07 14:38

Fact - Pienaar has and always been a Newcastle Fan so, Liverpool, Man United and Spurs would be 2nd, 3rd and 4th options too him that if they can better the 32K a week.
