Newcastle rout West Ham

Newcastle - Leon Best scored a hat-trick in his first Premier League start for Newcastle to help give the club a 5-0 win over a lackluster West Ham.

Best scored twice in the first half and captain Kevin Nolan made it 3-0 in the 45th. Best completed his hat trick in the 60th before Peter Lovenkrands completed the rout four minutes later.

It was the third time this season Newcastle had scored five or more at St. James' Park, and substitute Nile Ranger wasted a great chance to match the six they managed against Aston Villa back in August.

Relegation-threatened West Ham had arrived buoyed by a run of four league games without defeat, but rarely threatened a fightback.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
