Newcastle in Cisse boot gaffe

Cape Town - Newcastle United are again in the news for the wrong reasons after striker Papiss Cisse's new football boots came out with the name 'Sisse' wrongly embossed on them.

According to the Mail Online website, director of football Joe Kinnear's repeated mispronunciation of names has already caused widespread embarrassment throughout Newcastle.

And even though this time Nike was responsible for the gaffe, it just amounts to more embarrassment for the Magpies.

Cisse's pre-season has already been mired in controversy after he refused to wear kit from the club's new sponsor, Wonga, insisting it compromised his Muslim religious beliefs.

And, in addition to his name being mis-spelt on the £160 football boots, Kinnear mispronounced Cisse's name as 'Sissy' during an earlier interview.

Newcastle team-mate Sammy Ameobi uploaded a picture of Cisse's questionable boots on Twitter and commented: Well that's awkward... #sisse
