New United deal for Neville

Manchester - Veteran defender Gary Neville has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United, manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed on Friday.

The 35-year-old defender joins Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in extending his career until the end of the season.

Ferguson also announced that Wayne Rooney had returned to training following his recent groin injury, putting the England striker on track to play in Sunday's crucial Premiership match at Sunderland.
