Mokoena's future 'in limbo'

Johannesburg - Portsmouth captain Aaron Mokoena insists he is yet to find out if he has a future at the club.

The South African international admits he needs to talk with the club's administrators before he finds out whether he will be staying on the South Coast.

Pompey are in administration and need to cut costs, which could see a host of their big names, including Mokoena, leave at the end of the season.

"I still have a chat to have with the administrators," Mokoena told Sky Sports News.

"At the moment they have to sell players as they have to make money and I was listed as one of those players so until I have that chat I can't say much.

"But after that meeting I will be able to say more about my future at the club."

Mokoena has hailed the club's fans for sticking by them, and with an FA Cup final appearance to come, he hopes the season will end on a high.

"[The situation] is embarrassing, it shows how bad it was," he continued.

"Hopefully things will be sorted out as soon as possible and hopefully we will not come across these experiences again, for the upcoming players too, it is not good for the game.

"[The fans] have kept us going, the Pompey fans have been so passionate and for us, every day we play - we are aware of this and the money they pay to watch it."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
