Cape Town - Everton are likely to be without the services of Kevin Mirallas
for some time after he sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday's
Merseyside derby.
The Belgium international was stretchered off the field in the first half of the Toffees' 1-1 draw with Liverpool, having pulled up clutching his hamstring.
Having undergone scans on the injury, the news is not positive for the 26-year-old.
"We had a few scans and we are going to carry on today. It isn't a straightforward diagnosis but obviously the signs are not great," boss Roberto Martinez told evertontv.
"We are going to make sure we are clear with the problem. It's not normal when Kevin Mirallas feels something like that and has to come off in the game. We know then that it is something serious.
"He has always been a very fit boy who is always ahead of schedule and we hope this time it is going to be exactly the same."
Mirallas' injury comes as a blow to the Merseysiders ahead of their Europa League clash with FK Krasnodar on Thursday, with a key league fixture against Manchester United on the program for the weekend.
