Milner wants new City deal

Cape Town - James Milner has revealed that he is in talks with Manchester City over a new deal and is hoping to put pen to paper in the near future.

Milner, who joined the club from Aston Villa in 2010, has been an ever-present in the City squad, making 150 appearances in all competitions.

The versatile midfielder's versatility has been of great use to the Citizens, even if he's had to settle for more of a bit-part role at times, making just 12 starts in the Premier League last season.

And with his contract expiring at the end of the season, the 28-year-old is keen to join Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri, Aleksandar Kolarov, David Silva and Edin Dzeko in committing to a long-term deal and is hopeful of receiving some assurances over playing a more prominent role in the squad.

"We've been in talks with the club," Milner was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo.

"We've talked about it and hopefully it can get sorted sometime soon.

"I don't want to be paid to sit and watch. You want to feel like you're contributing and enjoy your football as much as you can, so I am in a happier place now."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
