McIlroy has LVG doubts

Cape Town - Rory McIlroy, an avid Manchester United fan, has expressed his doubts about manager Louis van Gaal's capabilities.

espn report that McIlroy is concerned about Van Gaal coaching the Old Trafford side.

"I think the signings he (Louis van Gaal) has made will come good in time, but I'm not convinced LVG is the right man to lead us." McIlroy told reporters at the recently concluded Deutsche Bank Championship.

"I don't know, it's a hard one. Everyone's dropping points and it looks like City will run away with it."

The Northern Irish golfer hopes that the Red Devils will be title challengers at the end of the season.

"Hopefully things will pick up and we'll challenge for the title, but we'll see."

United, who currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, resume their campaign against arch rivals Liverpool on Saturday.

The match kicks off at 18:30.
