Markovic: We can win the title

Cape Town - Liverpool's Lazar Markovic has full confidence in his teammates to go one better than last season and win the EPL title.

Lazar Markovic believes in the talent of himself and his teammates and believes his new club will win the English Premiership title according to the Liverpool Echo.

Markovic spoke frankly in an interview which was aimed at getting to know the new Reds recruit a little better.

Referred to as one of the brightest young talents in Europe, the young winger is confident of recreating his fine form during his time with Partizan Belgrade and Benfica.

“I hope so and I believe I will,” responds Markovic.

Markovic is already a decorated footballer after winning four league championships in his first four seasons since turning professional. This has given Markovic  the confidence to expect Liverpool will challenge strongly for the title this season.

“All of our new signings here at Liverpool are good enough, so I am confident we can win the Premier League."

“This is a club heading in the right direction,” says 20-year-old winger.

“I want to be part of that, and I’m grateful I’ve been given the chance."

“I watched all of Liverpool’s matches last season, so there was nothing special Brendan Rodgers said when I spoke to him that made me join. I already knew all about the club."

Markovic arrived with a big price tag but the winger gives no hint that the £20 million fee plays on his mind.

Markovic, who was ruled out of the season opener with Southampton, is keen to get stuck in and show his new boss that he can fit in to the first team plans at Liverpool.

“I can play on the left and right side,”

“I don’t know which position I will be in but that doesn’t matter as long as I am part of the club.

“Will I play regularly? That depends on how I play. It entirely depends on me.” says the Serbian winger.

Lazar Markovic does come to Anfield with a dirty secret however.

He grew up a Chelsea fan.

“Yes, I supported Chelsea,” says Markovic before adding “But that was because I liked Zola. I really liked the way he played."
