Cape Town - Senegalese star Sadio Mane has an injury that will keep him out of the African Cup of Nations, according to Southampton manager Ronald Koeman.
Following Southampton's 1-1 draw against Ipswich on Sunday, Koeman told the club's website "Sadio has a calf injury, he will be out for four to six weeks and he doesn’t play in the African Cup of Nations".
"There is some contact with the federation now and maybe they will call the player to have a test." added the Dutch manager.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been in tremendous form in the English Premiership in recent weeks, scoring in each of his last three appearances.
Koeman will need to find a replacement for Mane in his side for the crunch English Premiership match against Manchester United.
The fourth-placed Saints travel to Old Trafford on January 11. The match kicks off at 18:00.
